STATEN ISLAND SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
CURFEWS/MERCY
RULES FOR THE NEW SEASON
Because of time limits and other leagues using the fields, Curfews &/or Mercy rules must be enforced in every game when more than one game is scheduled to be played on any field.
Timing on a first game starts at the scheduled game time unless the filed is being readied for play at that time. Timing on succeeding games commences at the start of said games. (Unless the field is available and the teams are not ready to start at scheduled game time).
Courtesy Runner: (Only One)-should be announced at ground rules. The team has until the first pitch is thrown to declare a courtesy runner. This runner can be for anyone on the team. After the first pitch is thrown no courtesy runner will be allowed. The courtesy runner will be the last out.
Slow Pitch - Curfew:
In any game with SIX innings completed in one hour or less, the game may continue. If six innings are not completed in one hour or less, No inning may start later than one hour and fifteen minutes past starting time.
Slow Pitch - Mercy
In any game, after FIVE full innings, if a team is ahead by FIFTEEN runs, the game will thereat be completed. In any game, after SIX full innings, if a team is ahead by TEN runs, the game will thereat be completed. When the FIFTEENTH run scores in the BOTTOM of the fifth inning, the game is OVER. Likewise, when the TENTH run scores in the BOTTOM of the sixth inning, the game is OVER.
Medium Pitch - Curfew
In any game with SIX innings completed in one hour and ten minutes or less, the game may continue. If six innings are not completed in one hour and ten minutes or less, No inning may start later than one hour and twenty-five minutes past starting time.

Likewise, when the EIGHTH run scores in the BOTTOM of the sixth inning, the game is OVER.
