The League actually started in 1953 as S. I. East Shore
Softball League. It was first presided over by the late Jerry Healy as president. Some of
the teams were the "mickey Jays", "the stape darts", "ye olde
dutchmans", "immaculate men's club", and "the rosebank cardinals".
The League was turned over to Ben Defibaugh and Vinny Scarmedella in 1960, serving dozens
of softball leagues, comprising of hundreds of teams throughout the years. In 1997, our
former commissioner - Ben Defibaugh - officially retired and handed over the reigns to
George Hind - our current commissioner. Thanks to
Bob Burmeister (Acme AC) for supplying us with "the early years information".
